Joe shares with us a number of ways that you can go from dreaming of making your own record to enjoying the satisfaction of having your music everywhere for your future fans, friends, and family to listen to.

Joe Gilder of Home Studio Corner is a songwriter, producer, and home studio engineer who has been recording and teaching recording for many years. His blog Home Studio Corner is dedicated to helping you make better records from your home studio.

His partner site, Dueling Mixes, is a collaboration with Graham Cochrane of recording revolution, where you can learn how to mix from your home studio, following along with two great teachers each month in a larger community of home studio mixers. Joe was actually one of my first guests on the podcast back on Episode 3, and we’ve been friends ever since. I’m psyched to have him back on for this special follow up episode!

Russell Cottier is a producer, audio blogger, and YouTube teacher from across the pond in Liverpool, UK. Russell has worked with chart-topping artists and labels such as The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Sony, Sky TV, Nuclear Blast Records, Tamoki Wambesi Dove, Cavern Records, Playboy Channel and many more.

He works all across the UK and internationally, and can often be found at the Grammy-Award winning Parr Street Studios in Liverpool, the renowned Catalyst Studios, or in his own private studio where he has the luxury of a classic British analog console.

Ian Brennan shares inspiring stories about music he produced and recorded in Africa, where he helped bring forth the voices of voiceless people to the world.

Ian Brennan is a Grammy-winning producer who has produced four Grammy-nominated albums and published four books while all the while teaching violence prevention around the world since 1993.

He has written a fascinating book called “How Music Dies (Or Lives)” that shares his deep understanding of music, culture, and recording music all over the world, but particulaly the continent of Africa. On episode 38, he told us all about his book and field recording music in general. However, since our last interview, Ian has released two more remarkable records and agreed to join us on Recording Studio Rockstars to tell us about the experience, play some examples, and talk about the process of recording them.

The first record is called Tanzania Albinism Collective. The second record Abatwa (The Pygmy): Why Did We Stop Growing Tall?

In true form, Ian Brennan finds voiceless peoples of the world and uses recording and technology to bring their voices loud and clear to us, grabbing the attention of national media and the Grammys along the way.

Jordan Lehning gives advice on collaboration, songwriting, production, what makes great songs, and his experience in the music industry.

Jordan Lehning is a Nashville native who grew up in the studio. After a brief stint at Berklee College of Music, he returned to Nashville to record, play in bands, and cut his engineering teeth working for his father, Kyle Lehning, who has also been on the show on Episode 94: http://RSRockstars.com/94. We have also heard from Jordan’s brother, Jason Lehning, on Episode 74: http://RSRockstars.com/74. The Lehnings are obviously a very musical family and I am honored to have all of them on the podcast!

After working with the likes of Randy Travis, Ray Price, BJ Thomas, Kenny Rogers, among others, Jordan ventured out on his own finding success in film scoring, commercial licensing, and production. He has  worked with many Nashville indie artists including Jasmin Kaset, Caitlin Rose, Andrew Combs, Kree Harrison and more. He has become known for his skills in composition, and arranging with Kacey Musgraves, Shane MacAnally, Rodney Crowell, Charlie Worsham, Jacquire King, Jessie Baylin, Lucie Silvas and others.

Jordan now works out of his newly constructed full-service studio, The Duck, where we are joining you today.
